Rotor Repair & Coating
After removing all the high spots with a hand file and stone, the rotors are coated. A thicker layer of coating is applied to the worn section of rotor than the undamaged section. The rotors are then reassembled and retimed. If the supercharger can be saved, the performance will be the same as before the damage occurred, plus or minus one pound of boost. We do not guarantee this. It has been the normal result as reported by our customers. Considering the cost for a new Kenne Bell or Whipple, our Rescue and Repair Service is often the only cost effective alternative. Please study the pictures A-D and compare them to your damage to determine if they need to be repaired or scrapped out. If it's questionable, send them in. We will call you and discuss whether to repair or scrap out your supercharger. Normal turn around time for this service is 14 to 21 business days. Cost will usually be about $1000.00 which includes a complete rebuild and rotor repair, but this amount can vary due to your superchargers design and condition. See pictures E-F for the repaired rotors. The Whipple supercharger shown in the pictures E-F is on a Ford Lightning. At 17 pounds of boost the Ford Lightning made 465HP @ the wheel, before being tuned. We still do not have the numbers after tuning. The resulting 465HP indicates that the blower is working very well.

There is a limit to how much damage can be repaired. The pictures A-D show the maximum damage that can be repaired. This set of rotors is out of a Whipple that replaced the OEM Eaton. The Whipple got damaged when the rear rotor dust cover walked out of its bore. The dust cover metal casing dug into the aluminum supercharger case. It started passing particles through the rotors, causing the gouging and galling shown in the pictures A-D. This load puts the rotors out of time. This causes the drive rotor to drive the idler rotor with its leading face instead of the gear. This causes even more damage. See more details below...
